The Commander in Chief must have the leeway while in Office to govern as he or she sees fit and should be immune from federal prosecution. That is the view of the author Dr Shantanu Panigrahi, just like in the United Kingdom the Monarch is immune from all civil and criminal prosecutions to run the country as he/she sees fit.

Immunity from post Presidential incidents is necessary because any Tom, Dick or Harry can launch politically motivated lawsuits against a governor to spoil his/her chances of seeking a second term in office. All felonies before the President came to the Office must be completed before hand. This includes civil type lawsuits.
