Dear Shantanu
At the beginning of this week, we rightly paid tribute to the Queen for her life of unparalleled public service. The funeral ended nearly two weeks of tributes and memorials and we witnessed the accession of a new King, Charles III.
Now that the mourning period is over, politics is returning to normal, and we are facing the reality of a new right wing Conservative government. One that is already displaying its focus on helping its friends by supporting lifting the cap on banker bonuses and tax cuts that focus on the higher earners, rather than opportunities for all and social justice.
Although it is months away, 4th May 2023 will be a crucial day for the Liberal Democrats. We have made huge progress over the past couple of years but May sees the largest group of local elections and possibly the last major test before the next General Election. We need every member to do what they can to support their local campaigns. To help with this we are organising two events; one offering excellent training on how you can get involved with your local campaign and a chance to meet other members from across the region; and the second an opportunity to hear from Party Leader Ed Davey and other MPs on why the Liberal Democrats still play a vital role in British politics.

Saturday 29th October - ALDC training day.
This will be a full day of training with a guest speaker. It is being held in Guildford and costs just £10, including a light lunch. There are limited places. You can book yours via this link

Saturday 19th November - Regional Conference.
Being held online from 1.00pm to 5.30pm it includes speakers Ed Davey, Daisy Cooper and Helen Morgan as well as the AGM and an update on campaigns across the region. The Conference is free, and you can register for the meeting link by emailing your name and membership number to admin@southeastlibdems.org.uk
